Considering Homeschooling

Feedback and Testimonies

Thursday, May 4, 2006 22:40 by Charles B. Lowers

Here are some recent testimonies - we often receive such feedback - families are so grateful that they have a "safe" place to research homeschooling and meet families with Christian values both online and at local outreaches:

"Good evening, my name is Alison Mcmillian. I am a mother of two children, 4-year-old girl and 4-month-old boy. I wanted to thank you for your website. I honestly believe that the Lord directed me to your site last evening. I was feeling discouraged because my daughter was "missing out on going to Pre-K". It was not by choice, but because she is still not completely potty trained (she refuses to go #2 on the potty - uuuggh!) I belong to a mom's group and all the 4 year moms were excited about sending their kids off, and I honestly was feeling a bit left out.

I have been praying that God would give me direction on how to teach her so she is ready for mainstream. I wasn't confident that I would be able to teach her everything she needed to be ready, but then I ran across your site! It was if the Lord was speaking to me directly off the pages of your site. Every argument I had about what she would be missing was addressed on your site. The biggest one being the socialization, since my daughter is not much of a talker and is pretty sheltered at home, I thought sending her to school would help with other kids. I totally feel at peace now about homeschooling her this year. And my socialization dilemma will hopefully be solved with weekly play dates with other SAHM's. I even found the curriculum that I am to use this year.

Again, thank you, so much for your website and your obedience to what God has called you to do.

Thank you from one encouraged mom in Atlanta, Alison."

And this one:

"I've been meaning to email you and thank you for your ministry. We are just beginning to homeschool. I have done a lot of research through books, but I've been unsure how and where to meet like-minded parents with whom to develop friendships and support groups. (Our church only has two other families who are homeschooling!) Your meeting was interesting and informative, but probably more importantly for us, we found out about the Park Day group. We went, had a great time, and met some really wonderful kids and moms. And we are looking forward to joining some of your field trips. I can't tell you what a blessing you have given us and what a weight you have lifted for me. I'm sure it's the same for other parents who are just beginning, or considering homeschooling, and who don't know where to start. So, thank you! We really appreciate the work that you do!

K.S. (A mother of a 3-year-old and 1-year-old)"
