Description:
CHOOSE CT is an acronym for Christian Homeschoolers Organization of Southeastern Connecticut. The group was formed approximately 15-20 years ago by five or six local homeschooling families as a place where they could provide support for each other in their roles as Christian home educators, and as a place where they could provide educational enrichment and social activities for their children.

DEMOGRAPHICS: CHILDREN & FAMILIES
The group is currently about 70 families strong, encompassing ~210 children. Of that number, 180 are currently of school age (grades K-12) and are being educated by their parents. Our families range in size from one to eight children, with the median being three to four children per family. Our children range in age from two to seventeen, the largest group being age 10. Most families homeschool all of their children; however, we have a few families who homeschool one child while another attends public or private school.

DEMOGRAPHICS: GEOGRAPHIC, DENOMINATIONAL, EMPLOYMENT
The geographic boundaries of CHOOSE CT extend from Westerly, Rhode Island in the east, Old Saybrook in the west, Dayville/Danielson in the north, Lebanon/Marlborough in the northwest, and the Connecticut shoreline to the south. The denominational composition of CHOOSE CT includes both evangelical and reformed Protestant faith practices, as well as Catholicism. Most families are one-income with the fathers working and the mothers serving as the primary educators. The Navy, Coast Guard, and defense contractors employ a majority of our fathers, with Pfizer being the second largest employer.

GROUP GOVERNANCE
CHOOSE CT is steered by a Coordinating Council that is governed by operational guidelines and is comprised of the following officials who are elected annually by the CHOOSE CT membership:

- Co-Coordinator I
- Co-Coordinator II
- Membership Coordinator
- Newsletter Editor
- Secretary
- Treasurer
